Protection Warrior rotation assistant for World of Warcraft
Shield Block and Ignore Pain layered so a tankbuster is not a coin flip.
Rice Rotations reads your Protection Warrior from the game picture, decides which ability comes next, and presses the key for it from a second PC or a virtual machine. It runs on World of Warcraft Midnight retail and on Mists of Pandaria Classic, and the profile is included in the same subscription as the other thirty-nine specializations.
How the Protection Warrior profile plays
Protection Warrior is rage split between Ignore Pain and Shield Block. Rice keeps Shield Block up on physical damage, tops Ignore Pain without overcapping the absorb, and keeps Shield Slam, Thunder Clap and Revenge cycling for rage and damage.
Tanking is where a rotation assistant earns its keep: mitigation has to land before the damage does, not after it. Rice tracks the boss cast bar and your own resources, spends your active mitigation on the hits that matter, holds a defensive back for the next one, and keeps interrupts and taunt-adjacent utility available while you drive positioning and route.
The profile reacts to the pull instead of replaying a fixed list: interrupts fire on casts that matter, dispels go out when a debuff lands, and cooldowns are held for the burst window rather than used the moment they come up. Dozens of Protection Warrior settings decide how aggressive or how conservative that behaviour is, so a raid night and a Mythic+ push can use different profiles of the same spec.
Cooldowns and burst windows
Shield Wall and Last Stand are spent on the damage events, Demoralizing Shout is used as mitigation rather than as a taunt-adjacent afterthought, Spell Reflection is used on the cast it should reflect, and Avatar is used where it pays.
What the Protection Warrior rotation handles
- Shield Block uptime on physical damage
- Ignore Pain topped without wasting the absorb
- Shield Wall, Last Stand and Demoralizing Shout on damage events
- Pummel on interrupts, Spell Reflection on the casts worth reflecting
Raid, Mythic+ and the rest
Raid keeps a steady Shield Block and Ignore Pain pattern through known damage. In Mythic+ it holds Thunder Clap and Revenge cleave and makes sure mitigation is already up as the pack lands on you.
Raid nights, Mythic+ keystones, delves, world content and levelling alts. Rice Rotations is built and tuned for PvE, so there are no arena or battleground profiles. The desktop client is Windows only.
Setup and safety
Nothing is attached to the game: there is no injection, no memory reading and no unlocker. Rice runs on a second PC or a virtual machine, reads your gaming PC as a video stream and sends keystrokes back, so the machine running World of Warcraft only ever sees keyboard input arriving.
- Built and tuned for PvE. No arena or battleground profiles.
- Midnight retail is supported.
- Classic is Mists of Pandaria only, so no Era, no Wrath, no other ruleset.
Protection Warrior questions
- Does it waste Ignore Pain?
- It refreshes before the absorb is wasted rather than spamming it, so rage keeps going into the mitigation that is actually needed.
- Do I still control pulls and route?
- Yes. You pull, position and route; the profile presses the rotation, the mitigation and the interrupts.
